Large Vacuum former for Thermoplastics
The Large Vacuum Forming Machine from Green Stuff World is an ideal tool for cosplay, crafts, modeling, and set design. Designed to offer precise and detailed molding of thermoplastics and compatible materials, it allows you to replicate complex shapes with ease, making it an essential resource for creators and professionals. Made of MDF wood and self-adhesive insulating foam, its robust and modern design guarantees efficient performance with every use.
To optimize its performance, we recommend applying PVA glue to the joints to improve airtightness and maximize suction. Assembly is quick and easy, taking only 5 minutes, and includes all necessary hardware.
For the correct use of the large vacuum thermoforming machine, in addition to the machine, you will need two common devices that are not included:
(1) an ash vacuum cleaner of at least 1000 W (slightly larger than a normal household vacuum cleaner) with an approximate price of €30–50, which will be connected to the machine using the universal adapter
(2) a heating system more powerful than a heat gun; we recommend a large halogen heater with a minimum power of 1200 W (large bathroom heater).
How to use a vacuum thermoforming machine?
Place the Thermoart thermoplastic sheet on the lid/frame and secure it tightly with the screws provided
Set up the halogen heater on a table, pointing upwards
Connect the vacuum cleaner to the machine using the universal adapter and leave it switched on
Heat the thermoplastic with the heater until it is malleable
Quickly place it over the piece to be thermoformed and let the vacuum do its work.
If any area does not fit properly, you can go over it with a hot air gun, but to prevent the material from breaking, it is best to also reheat around the missing spot so that the plastic stretches without too much tension. And remember: “Practice makes perfect.”
Which plastics are compatible?
For best results and to make the job easier, we recommend thermoart transparent 0.5 mm, as it is thinner and requires less heat to soften, although it is also compatible with a wide variety of thermoplastics, including:
- ThermoArt
- Worbla
- Cosplayflex
It is important to note that this machine is NOT suitable for working with certain plastics due to their physical and chemical properties. Materials not recommended include:
- PVC (Polyvinyl chloride)
- Polypropylene
- PET (Polyethylene terephthalate)
- Methacrylate (PMMA - Polymethyl methacrylate)
These materials may react inappropriately to heat or not respond well to the vacuum process, which could affect the quality of the final result and user safety.
