This mould making key knife is the perfect tool for creating channels while cutting/separating a silicone or rubber mould from your master piece. The channels cut, will allow the mould to be put back together with strong interlocking sections preventing slippage. It enables the mould to be made in one piece and only cut to release the master piece, when the silicone is cured.
 
You may need to allow for a thick ridge of rubber where the mould is to be split and the cut has to be made.
 
TIP: we advise the help of an extra hand so the cut sections are peeled away from the cutting action, i.e. two hands plus a cutting hand. Also allow for the knife to keep clear of the model when cutting to avoid damaging it – simply finish off cutting the rubber with a scalpel.
